Pool Policies

  • Safety: Safety is the number one priority at the Fox Chapel Golf Club pool. Lifeguards are present for the safety of all of our swimmers. All members, regardless of age, are expected to adhere to all posted safety rules and to listen to all lifeguard requests to adjust behavior to ensure the safety of all.
Please remember that the minimum age at which a child may be at the pool area without an adult is 10.
There are NO exceptions to this rule. The pool staff is not to be considered a babysitting service.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
  • Use of electronic devices: Consistent with club policy, the pool committee expects that members will use appropriate judgment and be considerate of other members in the use of all electronic devices. Furthermore, since technology and its applications change rapidly, the pool managers have full authority to enforce these rules based on their judgment and perspective on how one member's behavior may be affecting others.  Talking on a cell phone continues to be prohibited in the pool area, however it is permitted in the playground area and parking lot.  The use of smartphones, tablets, laptops and cell phones for texting or email is permitted at the pool area, provided that their use is consistent with these principles.  It is expected that members will respect any requests from the pool staff or other members to adjust their behavior.
  • Guests:  The guest fee at the swimming pool is $5 per person per day.  Members are required to register all guests by name at the registration desk.  As a reminder, non-members age 16 and over are permitted to use the facilities with a member once in a thirty-day period.
  • Towel use: All towels and lounge chair covers must be signed for at the gate.  Members who fail to return towels to the front gate will be charged $5 for each towel not returned.
  • Diapers: A reminder that NO DIAPERS (INCLUDING SWIM DIAPERS) ARE PERMITTED IN THE BIG POOL.  All infants and children in diapers are to use the baby pool only.
  • Outside food and beverage: Food and beverages may not be brought into the pool area. An exception to this rule applies for infants and toddlers, where formula, baby food and light snacks are permissible.
  • Smoking: Smoking is prohibited in the pool and playground area.

Pool Rules
  1. Anyone disregarding the rules or the lifeguards may be deprived of the use of the pool, pool area and the playground.  Minor infractions may require a time-out.  Major infractions or repeated disregard of the rules may result in a suspension from the use of the pool, pool area and playground.
  2. Please remember that the minimum age at which a child may be at the pool area without an adult is TEN. There are NO exceptions to this rule. The pool staff is not to be considered a babysitting service.  Please ensure your child is familiar with all of the pool rules and that they understand they are to remain within the gates of the pool area.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
  3. Children under 16 years of age are not permitted in the locker rooms in the main Clubhouse.
  4. Children 12 years of age and under will be required to pass a deep-water test by the lifeguards if they wish to swim beyond the rope marking the shallow end of the pool and the diving board.
  5. All children age nine years or younger must enter with an adult when they are in the pool, pool area and playground.  Please keep in mind that the pool is not a babysitting service and remember to check in with your children.  The pool manager will have the authority to waive guest fees for non-parent/guardian individuals supervising children for the day (i.e. nannies, babysitters, etc...).
  6. The use of the baby pool is intended for children ages six years and under.  No child is permitted in the baby pool or playground unless continuously supervised by a responsible adult.  All those using the baby pool must be within an arm’s reach of their parent/guardian.
  7. No person within the pool area shall behave in such a manner as to jeopardize the safety and health of himself/herself and others. Such behavior shall be grounds for expulsion.  Conduct, which may result in injury to one’s self or the injury of others, will not be permitted in the pool, pool area, pavilion or playground. No running, wrestling, snapping towels, dunking, shoving or throwing others into the pool. Absolutely no prolonged breath-holding.
  8. The use of Coast Guard approved flotation devices or pool provided flotation devices are recommended for those who are not strong swimmers. Water wings and other flotation devices are permitted in both pools with proper supervision.

  10. Only bathing suits are allowed in the pool.  Rash-guards and aquatic shirts may be worn in the pool.
  11. Playing, sitting, swinging, pulling, or standing on ropes, ladders, lane lines, railing, or lifeguard chairs is NOT allowed.   Please remember to keep all pool entrances and exits unblocked at all times.
  12. There is NOT to be any running in the pool area, diving in shallow water jumping in backwards, flips, twists, can-openers or rolling off the deck into the water.
  13. DIVING BOARD:  All swimmers 12 and younger must pass deep-water test prior to using the diving board.
  • The diving well is intended for diving only. Anytime the diving board is in use the diving well must be cleared of all persons other than divers.  Please remember to look before you leap; do not jump if there is someone beneath you.
  • Inward dives, reverse dives, back dives, cart wheels, handstands and other such activities off the side of the pool, blocks, or diving board is prohibited.
  • Upon surfacing, immediately swim to the nearest ladder or wall. Do not swim under the boards at any time.
  1. LAP LANES:  Lap lanes are reserved for those who are lap swimming throughout the day.  Please respect those using the lanes for lap swimming purposes. For effective use, lap swimmers should swim counterclockwise near the lane markers and pass in the middle when more than 2 swimmers are in a lane.
  2. There is no eating or drinking while in the pool or on the pool deck.  Please keep all food and beverages in the seating areas or the lower pavilion.  There is to be no glass in the pool or on the pool deck areas.
  3. All parents will be required to fill out an emergency care card for each of their minor children who use the pool, pool area and playground.  The pool managers and lifeguards will keep this information on file. Parents are responsible for updating the cards when necessary.
